Training and Handover: The Last Mile of a Robot Project

Published: Published on Zhilianhai

Three audiences, three curricula

  • Operators: start, stop, recover from a jam, recognise an abnormal condition, who to call.
  • Maintenance: diagnostics, backup and restore, replacing wear parts, reading the logs.
  • Engineers: program structure, calibration, adding a new product variant.

Train on your parts

Generic vendor training teaches the interface. It does not teach how to recover from your feeder jam at 2 a.m. Add a session on your own cell, with your own faults injected deliberately, before handover is signed off.

Handover is a document, not a meeting

List the deliverables, sign them off one by one. If a document is missing, the project is not finished — that is the point of the list.
