Which Standards Apply to an Industrial Robot Cell

Published: Published on Zhilianhai

From machine to installation

The robot manufacturer certifies the robot. The integrator or the end user certifies the cell. Knowing which documents belong to which side prevents the most common compliance gap: a certified robot inside an uncertified installation.

Start from the risk assessment

Everything follows from ISO 12100: identify hazards, estimate risk, reduce risk by design, then by safeguarding, then by information for use. Standards then tell you how to implement each protective measure to an accepted level.

Always confirm the current edition. Standards are revised, and citing a superseded edition in a declaration is a defect.
