Vision Calibration

Published: Published on Zhilianhai

What has to be calibrated

ItemWhy it matters
Camera intrinsicsLens distortion and focal length
Hand-eye relationWhere the camera sits relative to the tool
Working planeThe plane where parts actually appear
Robot framesTool and base frames used in the calculation
Lighting stabilityConsistency across shifts

Keeping it valid

  • Re-calibrate after any change to tooling, camera mount or lens.
  • Record the calibration date and result with the cell documentation.
  • Check accuracy at the corners of the field of view, not only the centre.

Vision performance depends on lighting and part presentation. Validate with production parts.
